Swtor While You Play the Game Continues to Download

Guide on SWTOR PTS download, access and character copy. Step-by-step tutorial to help you install the Public Test Server and play new content!

For the Legacy of the Sith 7.0 expansion test phases updates and content will be added in waves, starting with only a few of the new Combat Styles system elements available and building up to almost everything, except for the story narratives, of course!

The Public Test Server is not accessible all the time. Even when it is, wipes and restarts can be frequent. This is a test environment. It is not meant for you to build your characters and stories, but to help the developers chase bugs and glitches and fix them or experiment with new builds and gear configurations for free :)

When the SWTOR PTS is up and running, it is only available to active Subscribers. Find out how to get a bundle game subscription cheaper and save some money.

Instructions

1. Start the SWTOR Launcher and log in to your game account. You need an active connection to Internet and subscription to the game in order to instal land access the Public Test Server.
2. In the top right corner, click on your account name and choose "Settings".
3. In the Settings menu, choose to Enable SWTOR PTS by selecting "Yes" in the Drop-down menu.
4. Click Save and go back to the Launcher main screen. If and when you are allowed to access PTS, a button will appear in the bottom left corner. Click it.
5. On the Next screen you will be prompted to choose the Environment. If you have not installed PTS, when you pick this, it will start installing it. If PTS is already installed, you still have to go through this menu. By default the game launcher will start you in the normal SWTOR environment, not on PTS. You have to manually select PTS (if that's where you want to log in) it every time you start the launcher.
6. If this is the first time you get to PTS, sit back and enjoy. You are about to install pretty much a second copy of Star Wars: The Old Republic now, so you need both patience and free space on your drive.
7. Once the installation is completed, you will have access to the SWTOR PTS. Enjoy your time amongst the bugs and don't forget that you are there to help the developers of the game, not play it. PTS can be closed or restarted at any time. Your characters can be erased at any time too.

Notes

To access SWTOR PTS you need internet connection and an active subscription to the game.

SWTOR PTS is available only for specific events, such as a major content update or an expansion.

Only active subscribers have access to it.

This is a test environment and features may be broken, bugged or completely missing.

Character copy may not always be available. Look on VULKK.com for an up-to-date info and news about the current build and what it allows you to do.

Notes

Please note that any other restrictions and limitations to accessing SWTOR PTS via the normal launcher also apply to the Steam SWTOR PTS version. You still need to be an active subscriber and you still need an internet connection, to name the most obvious ones.

Consult the Character Copy guide below if you want to copy one of your existing live characters onto the PTS and play with them.

Instructions

1. Make sure that SWTOR Character Copy is allowed and available for the specific SWTOR PTS phase. BioWare devs don't include this option for all testing phases as some times they don't need it for their testing purposes. Check the recent SWTOR news content on VULKK.com to learn what is available currently.
2. Log in to your account at https://account.swtor.com/user/account.
3. Go to PTS Character Copy at https://account.swtor.com/user/account/transfer/pts
4. Decide which character you want to copy (your characters will not be removed from the live servers, do not worry). Select it and proceed as instructed by the website.
5. When the PTS testing phase allows or needs it (BioWare decides that for each phase), you can create a new character, use the "Travel to Odessen" special terminal, placed right outside the starter conversation. This will automatically level you up to level cap and will usually also grant you credits, enough to spend on the newly created vendors on the landing area platform.

Some times (again when BioWare wants or needs to for their testing purposes) there are terminals available for you that will automatically level you up to level cap. Other terminal or vendor is usually nearby to provide all the latest End-Game gear to you FOR FREE.

Notes

SWTOR PTS is only accessible when BioWare needs it to be. This is a testing environment and it will be full of bugs and unfinished things. Also based on the current test phase you might be limited in your freedom of what you can do and where you can go.

The testing phases for SWTOR PTS 7.0 are focusing on certain aspects of The Legacy of the Sith Expansion and you will be asked to participate in specific events and/r check out certain new things that may be added with the latest update.

The server may go down frequently. Your characters may be deleted between testing phases or even between server updates in the same testing phase.

Once again (I want to make sure :P) – this is a test environment, not meant to be played like you do on a normal server. Use your time on PTS to both help the devs fix bugs and also test new builds for your favorite Disciplines :)

After you are done with installing PTS and copying your character(s), you can also opt to transfer the custom User Interface, if you have made any. To do that, simply copy the file from the live folder into the PTS one.
